MG Radhakrishnan has been active for more than four decades in Malayalam and English journalism and also print and television. He specializes in topics like politics, economics, culture and sports. After retiring from a full-time professional career in 2021, he runs regular columns in The Telegraph newspaper of Kolkata and the English digital version of Mathrubhumi besides writing for various national publications. He is a winner of several awards in journalism and also an author and translator. He taught at the Institute of Journalism, Thiruvananthapuram for more than a decade.

After his post-graduation in economics from University of Kerala in 1980, Radhakrishnan started his career in Mumbai as a sub-editor in an economic trade journal, Minerals and Metals Review, edited by noted writer MP Narayana Pillai. In 1982, Radhakrishnan returned to Kerala and joined Mathrubhumi daily, the second largest circulated newspaper in Malayalam. Having worked in the capacities of reporter and sub-editor at multiple places in Kerala, he won several prizes for excellence during his decade-long innings in Mathrubhumi. Radhakrishnan left Mathrubhum in 1994 to join India Today, India's largest circulated English news magazine as a Senior Correspondent based in Kerala. Besides reporting for the English edition, he regularly contributed to the magazine's Malayalam and digital versions also. Having chronicled all aspects of life in Kerala for a national and international reading community for two decades, Radhakrishnan left India Today as Associate Editor in 2014 to take over as Editor of Asianet News, the premier news channel in Malayalam. Radhakrishnan did several award-winning programmes, documentaries and interviews for the channel while leading the organization to remain on top in the field. After retiring from the channel in 2021, he served as its Group Editorial Advisor for one more year.
